It seems like only just yesterday that Super Mario was the game everyone was talking about. To be fair, everyone is still talking about the moustached plumber, given that his games still manage to be incredible. Though, the video game industry is a now a multi-billion dollar affair, complete with its own industry wide award ceremony.
MMOs have been a staple of video games since World of Warcraft revolutionised the gaming landscape. It offered dedicated players an entire world to explore, complete with thousands of other players to adventure with. Many other MMO games have attempted to recapture the same popularity, but have largely failed. Will anything finally dethrone World of Warcraft?
On September the 19th Apple will once again be throwing it hat into the ring. Only this time, the brand won’t be releasing another smartphone; they’ll be entering the gaming arena.
Apple Arcade is set to offer iOS gamers in more than 50 countries the chance to enjoy an arcade-style gaming subscription experience on their Apple device for just $4.99 a month.
While SnapChat may have cornered the market initially, recently another app has been grabbing people’s attention. FaceApp is an app that uses filters to make you look older/like a Hollywood celeb/blonder/like a hipster/younger, or just about anything else you can imagine, and it’s gone viral.
The problem is, it seems like privacy is a concern, and that anyone who uses the app is essentially signing away the rights to their image. Plus, the apps creators are using the app to harvest metadata from all the pictures loaded.
Anyone who has ever played Monopoly will know that the board game really can bring about the worst in people.
