Google made big waves when they announced their Stadia project: an all-in-one gaming platform that would allow users to make use of Google’s high internet speeds in an attempt to usher in a new age of online streaming.
Rumours were abundant in the months before its release, but the final project left much to be desired for many gamers. Despite this, others have praised Stadia, and have called it the future of gaming, even if it needs some serious refinement and improvement.
It seems like only just yesterday that Super Mario was the game everyone was talking about. To be fair, everyone is still talking about the moustached plumber, given that his games still manage to be incredible. MMOs have been a staple of video games since World of Warcraft revolutionised the gaming landscape. It offered dedicated players an entire world to explore, complete with thousands of other players to adventure with. While SnapChat may have cornered the market initially, recently another app has been grabbing people’s attention. FaceApp is an app that uses filters to make you look older/like a Hollywood celeb/blonder/like a hipster/younger, or just about anything else you can imagine, and it’s gone viral.
The problem is, it seems like privacy is a concern, and that anyone who uses the app is essentially signing away the rights to their image. Plus, the apps creators are using the app to harvest metadata from all the pictures loaded.
Anyone who has ever played Monopoly will know that the board game really can bring about the worst in people. Even the most mild mannered and polite family members are suddenly out to rob you blind, send you to jail or charge you over the odds for landing on your space that’s got a hotel, when all they’ve got is one of the cheapest properties on the block.
